Nga taputapu o te ruma

We were pronouncing and learning about some maori words that we did
not know.

I found it easy to pronounce most of the words that were in maori because they are easy without looking at them.

I found it hard to guess the long maori words because I was not looking at the words.

I really enjoyed creating my recording of the Maori words, because some are easy to pronounce in my recording.

Next time I need to learn more maori words Because I already know most of them.

Something Vanished

His face was grouchy and his eyebrows went

Narrow.

His arms fell on his hips as he asked the dog “Where is my

Shorts?¨

He roared with excitement and said to his dad he couldn't find his socks.

He looked worried so he asked his dad “where are my socks”?

His elbows sank to his stomach and said to dad “are my socks in the laundry?”

We were learning about how to write using Show Don´t Tell. Show don´t tell is when you talk about his voice body and face.

I found it easy to describe other words than mad or vanished

I found it hard to figure out what his voice sounds like.

I really enjoyed writing about the characters actions and what they were saying.

Next time I need to write more about how they are feeling.

Show don`t tell

WALT: to make inferences about the character.

His eyes closed up and he was back tracking for his shorts and they were not anywhere.

He scratched his head and his legs were not in motion. He was feeling unhappy.

He whispered quietly to himself,"where are my shorts?".

We were learning about show don`t tell to make inferences about what the characters are feeling.

I found it easy to talk about Timo`s face body and voice.

I found it hard to find different words to backtracking.

I really enjoyed figuring what Timo might be thinking about and feeling.

Movie making: Pencil

This week we have been learning about making movies using We video. We learned about different camera angles you can use in your movies to make them more interesting. We learned how to edit our own videos using we video. We used the cutting function so we could cut out what we didn't want. Some of us used audio in our movies.

I found it easy to cut out the parts I didn't want.

I found it challenging to use different angles and getting the timing right.

I really enjoyed making my first movie that was quite interesting. Also it was better than I thought.

Next time I need to be better at making longer movies without rushing. I could do better edits and take my time.

Partly Cloudy

We were learning about Inferences in our T shaped literacy.

We watched a video called Partly Cloudy. It is about a cloud that is different to the other clouds.

I found it easy to write what it shows in the video, because it shows a lot of clues about inferences.

I found it hard to explain the ideas from the video to my partly cloudy inference, because I had trouble connecting my thoughts.

I really enjoyed the part where I make ideas that I made myself.

Clickety-Clack Cicada

We have been learning about language features during Literacy. The way we have been doing this is by reading and understanding poems.

Some of the features we identified in the poems are metaphors, verbs, onomatopoeia, and adjectives.

This week we read Clickety-Clack Cicada by Jill Brasell.

There were language features in the poem.
The author used metaphors and other language features to make the poem more interesting.

I found it easy to locate metaphors and onomatopoeia in the text.

I found it hard to find other language features like nouns or verbs.

I really enjoyed designing around the pages and writing about what metaphors and other
words are.

Next time I need to try find more language features in other story.

The loaves

We were learning about metaphors.

A metaphor compares 2 different things

in this poem the author used

metaphor to compare bread to clouds

and the sun is the oven.

We were learning about metaphors.
The bread is the clouds because the above is lumpy
and the bottom is flat.

I really enjoyed colouring my loaves and designs.

I found it hard to compare the metaphors because
I did not know anything about metaphors.

Next time I need to write out more metaphors
about a story.

I found it easy to get help about my metaphors
and to learn about the metaphors.
