Clickety-Clack Cicada

We have been learning about language features during Literacy. The way we have been doing this is by reading and understanding poems.

Some of the features we identified in the poems are metaphors, verbs, onomatopoeia, and adjectives.

This week we read Clickety-Clack Cicada by Jill Brasell.

There were language features in the poem.
The author used metaphors and other language features to make the poem more interesting.

I found it easy to locate metaphors and onomatopoeia in the text.

I found it hard to find other language features like nouns or verbs.

I really enjoyed designing around the pages and writing about what metaphors and other
words are.

Next time I need to try find more language features in other story.

The loaves

We were learning about metaphors.

A metaphor compares 2 different things

in this poem the author used

metaphor to compare bread to clouds

and the sun is the oven.

We were learning about metaphors.
The bread is the clouds because the above is lumpy
and the bottom is flat.

I really enjoyed colouring my loaves and designs.

I found it hard to compare the metaphors because
I did not know anything about metaphors.

Next time I need to write out more metaphors
about a story.

I found it easy to get help about my metaphors
and to learn about the metaphors.
