My Digital Day

We are learning about how we advertise ourselves online. We talked about only posting things online that keep us safe. We learned how tagging photo and posts make it easier to find out about someone, so we need to be careful about our posts content.

We created a DLO showing our Digital Day.

We had to copy our history and to  track what I have been on.

I noticed that I was on maths whizz the most.

My map

We are learning about our local rivers and waterways.
We used My Maps to locate waterways close to Tautoro so we can learn about our local environment.

I found it easy to search for rivers on the internet.

I found it hard to try creating a my map without help.

I really enjoyed using the map to find rivers.

Next time I need to try adding more information and images to the pins on my map.

Blake NZ-VR

Last term Blake NZ visited. We learned about Marine Reserves. We were able to use VR sets to explore the oceans. I found it easy to learn about the ocean and the VR sets made it interesting.

I found it easy to to see the sea creatures in the ocean using the VR sets.

I found it hard to describe what I saw because I forget.

I really enjoyed looking around islands that are protected/unprotected.

Next time I need to describe anything that I see in the ocean with better sentences.

Clickety-Clack Cicada

We have been learning about language features during Literacy. The way we have been doing this is by reading and understanding poems.

Some of the features we identified in the poems are metaphors, verbs, onomatopoeia, and adjectives.

This week we read Clickety-Clack Cicada by Jill Brasell.

There were language features in the poem.
The author used metaphors and other language features to make the poem more interesting.

I found it easy to locate metaphors and onomatopoeia in the text.

I found it hard to find other language features like nouns or verbs.

I really enjoyed designing around the pages and writing about what metaphors and other
words are.

Next time I need to try find more language features in other story.

The loaves

We were learning about metaphors.

A metaphor compares 2 different things

in this poem the author used

metaphor to compare bread to clouds

and the sun is the oven.

We were learning about metaphors.
The bread is the clouds because the above is lumpy
and the bottom is flat.

I really enjoyed colouring my loaves and designs.

I found it hard to compare the metaphors because
I did not know anything about metaphors.

Next time I need to write out more metaphors
about a story.

I found it easy to get help about my metaphors
and to learn about the metaphors.
